Terms of Use
The rules for using OnNest, and an honest account of what OnNest does and doesn't do. Version 1.0, effective September 8, 2026.
Version 1.0 · Effective September 8, 2026 · Questions: support@getonnest.com
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an OnNest account or using OnNest, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the OnNest Privacy Policy, which is part of your agreement with OnNest. If you do not agree, please do not use OnNest.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter an agreement to use OnNest. OnNest is offered for personal, non-commercial use.
You need an account to use OnNest. Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell OnNest at support@getonnest.com if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity under your account, and for using OnNest lawfully.
3. What OnNest is
OnNest is a financial wellness, financial education, planning, organization and decision-support platform. It helps you understand your relationship with money, see your current financial picture from the information available to it, set goals, follow your progress, and think through decisions before you make them.
4. What OnNest is not
OnNest is not, and does not hold itself out as, any of the following:
- A bank or provider of banking services — it holds no money and moves no money.
- A lender — it makes no lending decisions and approves nothing.
- A credit bureau — it does not pull or issue credit reports.
- A debt settlement or debt relief company.
- A payment processor.
- A tax adviser or a legal adviser.
- An investment adviser or broker.
- An insurer.
OnNest holds no licence, registration or regulatory status in any of those categories and does not claim one. If OnNest ever adds a service that requires one, these Terms will be updated before that service is offered.
5. Educational and decision-support nature
OnNest provides information, organization, calculations, education and decision-support tools. It does not tell you what to do, and nothing in OnNest is professional financial, tax, investment or legal advice.
You remain solely responsible for your financial decisions and their consequences. OnNest does not guarantee any financial outcome. Consider speaking with a qualified professional before making a significant financial commitment.
6. Information you provide
OnNest works from the figures you enter. You are responsible for their accuracy and completeness. OnNest cannot and does not independently verify what you enter, and everything it shows you depends on the information available to it. If a figure is wrong or missing, what OnNest shows you will be affected.
OnNest deliberately treats information you have not provided as unknown, not as zero. A known value of zero is something you entered; unknown information is simply absent, and OnNest says so rather than assuming a number.
You keep ownership of the information you provide.
7. Connected financial information
Connecting a financial institution is optional, and OnNest works fully on the figures you enter yourself.
Connected financial functionality is not currently live. When it becomes available, OnNest is designed to use a third-party financial-data provider — Plaid — to retrieve account information you authorise. At that point:
- You choose the institution and authorise the connection yourself.
- You sign in with your institution through Plaid. OnNest does not receive or store your online banking username or password.
- Connected information may contain delays, errors, duplicates, pending transactions, merchant-description differences and other limitations that originate with the provider or the institution. OnNest is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of information supplied by them, or for outages on their side.
- Provider-derived information enters OnNest as observations, kept separate and labelled as such, subject to your review and confirmation.
- Connected information never silently overwrites the Financial Reality information you entered yourself. If something looks like a match, OnNest asks you first.
- You can disconnect an institution at any time, which stops anything new being gathered.
- You can separately delete connected, provider-derived information through the controls OnNest provides.
Your use of a financial-data provider is also subject to that provider's own terms and privacy practices.
8. Financial calculations
OnNest may normalize income, expenses, debt payments, balances, savings and other figures — for example converting amounts to a monthly equivalent — so they can be presented and compared consistently. These calculations depend entirely on the information you have provided or authorised.
All calculations are informational. They are not lender underwriting, credit approval, qualification, or a determination that anything is affordable for you.
9. Personalized guidance
OnNest may tailor what it shows you using information such as your Money Relationship responses, your Financial Reality figures, your goals, goal readiness and your progress history. This is intended to help you focus on what matters in your own situation.
Guidance in OnNest is generated by deterministic rules applied to your own information. It is not professional financial advice, and OnNest does not provide AI-generated financial advice.
10. Goal Readiness
Goal Readiness helps you understand factors associated with a goal, based on the information you have provided. A readiness state is not loan approval, lender qualification, underwriting, a guarantee of affordability, or a recommendation that a purchase should or should not be made.
11. What If?
What If? is a planning sandbox. You choose assumptions and OnNest projects forward from them. Scenario results are estimates and do not change your authoritative Financial Reality; that only changes if you separately update your actual information through the normal workflow.
12. Decision Check
Decision Check helps you examine how a decision you are contemplating fits against the financial information you have provided, including what is missing. It describes; it does not decide for you, and it is not an approval of any kind.
13. Build My Path
Build My Path lays out a sequence of money targets, information targets and preparation steps toward a goal you chose, using your own figures, and tracks your actual progress against that plan. It is a planning and educational tool. It is not lender approval, underwriting, a qualification decision, or a guarantee that the goal will be reached.
14. Goals and progress
Progress indicators, milestones and comparisons over time are informational and depend on the information stored in your account at each point in time. They do not guarantee that a goal will be achieved.
15. Account security
You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and for keeping control of your account. Use a strong, unique password, do not share it, and contact support@getonnest.com promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
OnNest does not currently offer member-facing multi-factor authentication. Multi-factor authentication is used on OnNest administrative accounts where supported; that is separate from member sign-in.
16. Acceptable use
- Don't use OnNest unlawfully, or to commit or facilitate fraud.
- Don't try to access anyone else's account or information.
- Don't attempt to break, probe or circumvent OnNest's security controls.
- Don't introduce malicious code or interfere with the operation of the service.
- Don't abuse credentials, share accounts, or attempt automated credential attacks.
- Don't scrape, resell or redistribute the service, or use automated access in a way that burdens or disrupts it.
- Don't upload unlawful content.
Good-faith security research reported responsibly to support@getonnest.com is welcome and is not a violation of these Terms.
17. Privacy
How OnNest collects, uses, stores, protects and shares your information is described in the OnNest Privacy Policy. It is not repeated here.
18. Your data rights and account closure
Signed in to your account, you can:
- Download a machine-readable copy of the information OnNest holds for you.
- Correct any information you entered yourself.
- Disconnect a connected financial institution, when connected functionality is available to you.
- Delete connected, provider-derived financial information without deleting the Financial Reality information you entered.
- Permanently delete your OnNest account, which requires typing an exact confirmation phrase.
Account deletion is permanent. It removes your information as described in the Privacy Policy, and OnNest cannot restore it afterwards.
19. Third-party services
OnNest relies on third-party providers for parts of the service, including hosting and application infrastructure, managed database, authentication and storage services, and email delivery. When connected financial functionality becomes available, this also includes a financial-data connectivity provider.
Your use of a third-party service may also be subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices. Relying on providers does not remove OnNest's own responsibilities to you under these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
20. Service availability
OnNest is provided on an as-is, as-available basis. The service may be unavailable at times because of maintenance, provider outages, data delays or technical issues, some of which are outside OnNest's control. OnNest does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
21. Changes to OnNest
OnNest may update, improve, add to or discontinue features. Where a change materially affects your rights or how your information is handled, OnNest will make that clear and provide notice where notice is required.
22. Intellectual property
OnNest — its name, branding, content, design, materials and software — belongs to OnNest and its licensors. You may use them only as part of using the service.
OnNest claims no ownership of the personal financial information you provide. It remains yours.
23. Feedback
If you send OnNest suggestions, ideas or feedback about the product, OnNest may use them to improve the service without obligation or payment to you. This applies only to product feedback. It does not transfer any ownership of, or rights to, your personal financial information.
24. Disclaimer of warranties
OnNest is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. OnNest does not warrant that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the information it displays is complete or accurate, since it depends on what you provide or authorise.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited under applicable law.
25. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OnNest is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings or lost data, arising from your use of OnNest.
26. Suspension and termination
You can delete your OnNest account at any time from Settings, as described in section 18. That is your choice and takes effect through the deletion workflow.
Separately, OnNest may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, is being used unlawfully, or poses a security risk. Where practical you will be told why.
27. Changes to these Terms
OnNest may update these Terms. The version number and effective date at the top of this page identify the current version, and material changes will be reflected here. Where notice of a change is legally required, OnNest will provide it. Continuing to use OnNest after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Owner / legal review required: these Terms deliberately omit the legal entity name and address, governing law and venue, dispute-resolution or arbitration terms, a class-action waiver, any consumer indemnification clause, and any monetary cap on liability, because those facts and decisions have not been supplied and must not be invented. They should be settled by the owner with qualified legal input before launch.
